Holi Hindu spring festival celebrated in Denpasar , Bali

Holi is a Hindu spring festival celebrated in the Indian subcontinent, also known as the "Festival of Colours" or "Festival of Love".
It is also celebrated as a thanksgiving for a good harvest.

Holi is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of

South Asia, as well as people of other communities outside Asia.
In recent years, the festival has spread to parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love, frolic and colours.

Natural colours were used in the past to celebrate Holi safely by applying turmeric, sandalwood paste, extracts of flowers and leaves.

In Indonesia, Holi festival used to held in Bali.

Thousands of people took part in Holi, a festival of colors, in Puputan Badung Park in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday.

The participants came from various backgrounds, including Balinese, Indian citizens, people of Indian descent living Bali

, as well as other expatriates and tourists.

Holi is an Indian festival that celebrates the start of spring in India. "When nature changes, people in India play with colors.

It's a fun time," Indian consul general in Bali, RO Sunil Babu 

The Indian Consulate General in Bali had celebrated Holi annually for the last five years.

"Many people here have seen Holi in Bollywood movies. This is a chance for everybody to play Holi on their own," he said.

Last week, Medan also held a Holi event, which saw thousands of Indian citizens and locals having fun with colors
